[p]First, I’d like to say thank you for visiting the site — whether it’s your first time, or one of many. I hope you’ll stay a while and share your thoughts on the new design. [/p]
[p]I’ve been toiling away at this since August, and here it is, live and in color. It has been a labor of love, and though I became frustrated and discouraged at times, it was worth all the blood, sweat and tears.[/p]
[p]During the process and after countless trials and errors, I’ve learned more about WordPress than I could have ever imagined. The versatility, flexibility and ease of use are astounding … and it’s all open source. Anyone — from beginners to gurus — can modify and contribute to the growth and use of WordPress, and it’s all free. The only cost is the time and effort you’re willing to invest. That said, this site cost me quite a bit. But again, was worth every effort. [/p]
[p]Compared to how my site appeared less than a week ago, I feel the new design is a more accurate representation of the level of creativity, skill and expertise I bring to the table. Instead of serving as a means to an end (a home for my portfolio), it has matured into a showcase of not only my work, but of myself.[/p]
[p]Much thought went into the user experience — navigation, ease of use, natural thought transition and overall functionality. During the process, I kept in mind one main, underlying thought:[/p]
[blockquote]What questions will potential and current customers ask and how can I easily, clearly — and when possible, cleverly — answer them?[/blockquote]
[p]With this in mind, I built the site from the inside, out. The navigation (the “bones”) was determined. Then the contents (the “guts”) filled out the body of the site. Lastly, the look (the “skin”) wrapped everything into an inviting, yet unobtrusive, package.[/p]
[p]Then, automagically (a phrase often used by a good friend of mine), the site was transformed overnight on December 6, 2011. By the morning of December 7, I awoke to the manifestation of my dream. Welcome to the new jenhankey.com.[/p]
